Napkin Rings Save the Planet and Delight Kids! | Living in the Family Room Blog - Martha Stewart
oh this story brings back memories. when I lived in spain  the woman that housed us did this very thing with the cloth napkins and the rings. only since our spanish was mediocre and her english was less then that it took us a few weeks to figure this out.
she was always insisting that i was the wooden pineapple napkin holder, and D was the apple, and  N was pepper or eggplant? can’t remember but we were like “yeah, yeah, yeah…” always wondering what is the obession with the napkin holders. and she was so strict about paper napkin use….okay so one night its fish night (which often it was) and I am hungry (like often I am) and I dig right in, big HUGE mouthful of fish BONES! ahhhhhhhh! I almost vomited actually I may have, all I know is I spit what I could into my cloth napkin so I was never a big fisher eater but I get over it, enjoy it and finish dinner…..okay so fast forward a to dinner or lunch the next day and I get my pineapple napkin ring and guess what’s in it, yep a crusty pile of rotting fish bones and possible vomit that I spit out the day before. YUM! so folks its actually a very interesting concept but not one that I think I get into sorry, I try to do as much as I can to lighten my carbon foot print but I am scarred from this one…so sorry…. and just as an FYI it was then we took to using the table cloth as a napkin when things got ugly like with the fishbones. the end.
